Disability - Short Term & Long Term
Short-term and Long-term Disability benefits are provided at no cost to Aeropres employees. These benefits are 100% company paid.
Disability insurance is one of the most important benefits offered because it protects a portion of your income in the event an illness or a non-work related injury prevents you from working. It helps give you something to fall back on while you recover.
STD insurance pays a portion of your base pay, typically 60%, for up to 90 days while you are out of work.
LTD insurance begins where Short-term disability leaves off, providing benefits for illness or injury that have longer recovery times.
STD and LTD work together to keep you protected when a disability lingers.
Once the STD company confirms you are disability eligible and approves your claim, there is a 7-day waiting period for STD benefits. Notify your supervisor prior to your leave so that you have time to apply for your benefits.
As per the Employee Handbook, when an employee is on disability leave, time-off will be recorded in the following order:

- Current year available sick leave.
- 10 days previous year’s accrued sick leave OR unused vacation.
- Unused vacation.
- Remaining previous year’s sick leave until Long Term Disability becomes effective typically after 90 days.
